FAQ
If you’re visiting for the first time or just want to learn more, these FAQs are here to help answer common questions and make your experience with us clear and comfortable.
-
A Gospel Hall is a Christian place of worship focused on preaching and living out the gospel. The Barrington Gospel Hall provides a space for Christians to gather in the name of the Lord Jesus in Barrington, New Jersey—to worship, serve, and grow in faith.
-
We have a dedicated parking lot at the Hall, as well as space surrounding the Hall property. Additionally, there are several nearby parking areas, including street parking along Barrington Avenue and spaces in the surrounding neighborhood, all within a short and convenient walking distance.
-
Most attendees typically wear their “Sunday best” or business casual attire, but there is no expectation for you to dress a certain way!
-
We recommend arriving at least 10 minutes before the service so we can personally welcome you and get to know you. If you’re unable to arrive early, we’ll be happy to connect with you after the meetings.
-
You’re welcome to sit wherever you feel most comfortable at any of our meetings and services, including the Ministry Service and the Gospel Service. For the Lord’s Supper service, we have designated seating for members of the assembly, and visitors are invited to sit in the areas set aside for observing the gathering. This helps us reflect the fellowship of our community, and it’s not meant to exclude or judge anyone—everyone is warmly welcomed!
-
The Lord’s Supper at the Barrington Gospel Hall is a “closed-table” communion, with participation in the Lord’s Supper intended for those in formally recognized membership of a local church with similar beliefs and values. Visitors who meet these criteria are welcome to partake, and it is highly recommended that they bring a letter of commendation from two or three witnesses of their local church leadership to allow you to celebrate the Lord’s Supper with us. Those not in fellowship with the assembly, any approved local church membership, or under church discipline, are invited to sit in the designated observer area. One of our elders will be at the door to welcome you and assist with any questions you may have and receive and approve your letter of commendation if you bring one. This arrangement reflects our commitment to the fellowship of believers expressed in the Lord’s Supper while warmly welcoming all visitors.
-
During certain gatherings, such as the Lord’s Supper, the Prayer Meeting, and the Bible Reading, exercise members lead the assembly verbally in public prayer, teaching, and discussion. Visitors who are not part of the assembly’s fellowship are welcome to attend and observe, but we kindly ask that they refrain from speaking publicly during these meetings. This helps maintain the structure and doctrinal safety of the gatherings while making everyone feel welcome.
-
We recommend attending our 7:00 PM Gospel Service on Sunday evenings for your first visit. You are also welcome to join our 12:15 PM Ministry Service, which is preceded by 45 minutes of coffee and refreshments—a great opportunity to meet and get to know our members and elders.
-
At our 12:15 PM Ministry Service, we start with 15 minutes of children’s songs together with the Sunday School. Afterward, children are dismissed to their age-appropriate classes from ages 5-18 where they will learn the Word of God while their parents receive the preached word of God in the Ministry Service upstairs. Our elders are happy to help guide your child to the class best suited for your child, ensuring a welcoming and engaging experience for the whole family.
-
Just as those at Pentecost were baptized and added to the fellowship of believers, those who seek to join the Barrington Gospel Hall must profess faith in Christ as Savior and as Lord and to have been baptized. If you are interested, our elders would be happy to meet with you personally to discuss your intentions of joining the church and guide you through the process of becoming part of our assembly.
-
We have four elders who serve the assembly by shepherding, guiding, leading, teaching, and setting an example in behavior for the church. While we do not have a paid minister serving as an elder, we believe that teaching and public verbal participation are not exclusive to elders or pastors—any member may contribute according to their gifts. Our elders look forward to meeting you and getting to know you at before or after our meeting times!
-
Every June, the believers at the Pennsauken Gospel Hall host a special series of Gospel Services in a tent on their grass lot. Because of our close relationship with them, we suspend our Sunday evening 7:00 PM Gospel Services in the month of June so our members can attend and support their series. We encourage visitors to join us in supporting the Pennsauken Gospel Hall Tent Series. More information will be available during this time on their website: pennsaukengospelhall.org
Our Sunday morning and afternoon meetings at 10:00 AM and 12:15 PM continue as usual.
See You Sunday!
